LALIQUE UNVEILS PAPILLONS, A FLIGHT OF DELICACY FOR THE AIR DE LALIQUE COLLECTION CHAPTER II
Launch: September 1, 2026
In 2026, Lalique continues its artistic journey through the four elements and reveals the second Chapter of the Air de Lalique collection, dedicated to decorative objects. With Papillons, the House captures in crystal one of nature’s purest beauties, carried by the breath of the wind.
The crystal vase is adorned with a multitude of butterflies, giving rise to an aerial ballet in which each wingbeat evokes the poetry of eternal migration. A metaphor for renewal, the butterfly embodies life, freedom and the delicacy of movement.
The fine, delicately sculpted wings diffuse the light through a subtle interplay of transparency. The abundant décor is enhanced by the contrast between satin-finished and polished crystal, a signature hallmark of Lalique.
The Papillons collection is rooted in the purest Lalique tradition, drawing inspiration from the heritage of the House. Everything begins with a drawing: nature is observed and interpreted with poetic realism, faithful to the spirit of René Lalique. The level of detail and the precision of the motif contribute to the collection’s distinctive style.
THE PIECES OF THE PAPILLONS COLLECTION
The collection unfolds through several decorative creations:
- The Papillons flat small bowl, in clear crystal, conceived as a versatile piece (H 13 x D 120 mm – 0.18 kg),
- The Papillons vase, medium size, in clear crystal or in a pink luster version (H 280 x D 214 mm – 3.64 kg),
- The Papillons vase, large size, in clear crystal or in gold stamped crystal, revealing a contrast of satin-finished and polished surfaces, a Lalique signature.
The flat small bowls are produced using the pressed crystal technique, then meticulously satin-finished on the back to preserve the legibility of the motif, before being entirely polished on the inside to reveal brilliance and shine.
The vases are shaped in blown or pressed crystal, then sandblasted, satin-finished and polished to enhance the interplay of light and the detail of the wings, requiring up to twelve finishing stages depending on the versions.
THE CRYSTAL “BUTTERFLY” FLACON - LALIQUE HERITAGE
In tribute to Lalique’s history as a creator of perfume bottles, the House unveils in 2026 a re-edition of the crystal “Butterfly” flacon.
Originally launched as a limited edition in 2003 with its fragrance, this iconic flacon completes the House’s range of flacons to be filled (60 ml). Its floral petal décor, surmounted by two butterflies, is enhanced by a gold stamped finish applied to both the flacon and its stopper.
Through this creation, Lalique continues the dialogue between heritage, glassmaking expertise and the poetry of the element Air, placing the Papillons motif within a contemporary interpretation of its legacy.
Through Papillons, Lalique expresses the element Air in its most delicate form: movement, lightness and ephemerality, captured in crystal through exceptional craftsmanship.
