LALIQUE OPENS VILLA FLORHOF, ITS FIRST BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN ZURICH

Opening on August 1, 2026

A meticulously restored historic villa becomes a new landmark for luxury hospitality, where Zurich's silk heritage, exceptional design and the art of living converge.

Zurich, Switzerland, 5 August 2026 – Lalique proudly announces the opening of Villa Florhof, the Maison's first boutique hotel in Zurich and the newest addition to the Lalique Hospitality collection. Nestled between Zurich's historic Old Town and the university quarter, the intimate thirteen-room property reimagines one of the city's most storied heritage buildings as a refined urban retreat, where more than five centuries of history meet contemporary craftsmanship, gastronomy and design.

Located on Florhofgasse, the listed property traces its origins to the fifteenth century and was deeply intertwined with Zurich's flourishing silk trade from the sixteenth century onwards. Following an extensive restoration undertaken in close collaboration with heritage authorities, Villa Florhof has been thoughtfully transformed into a destination that celebrates both the city's cultural legacy and Lalique's enduring commitment to artistry and savoir-faire.

More than a hotel, Villa Florhof has been conceived as an elegant private residence. Discreet in scale yet rich in character, it offers an experience defined by intimacy, impeccable service and an unmistakable sense of place.

"Villa Florhof embodies our vision of hospitality rooted in authenticity, craftsmanship and cultural heritage. By restoring this remarkable house and giving it new life, we are creating far more than a hotel. We are opening a home that reflects the spirit of Zurich through the lens of Lalique." – Tanja Wegmann, General Manager Lalique Hospitality & Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, Lalique Hospitality

A New Chapter for Lalique Hospitality

Villa Florhof represents an important milestone in the continued evolution of Lalique Hospitality, becoming the collection's first address in Zurich and expanding its portfolio of distinctive destinations that includes Villa René Lalique and Château Hochberg in Alsace, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey in Bordeaux, The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant and The Aberturret Estate House in Scotland. Each property is individually conceived, responding to the history, landscape and culture of its location while expressing Lalique's unique philosophy of luxury through craftsmanship, gastronomy and design.

A Historic House Reimagined

Unlike a grand palace hotel, Villa Florhof offers the intimacy of a private house. Its thirteen individually designed rooms and suites each tell a unique story, drawing inspiration from the artistic universe of René Lalique. The hotel's principal accommodation, the Suite René Lalique, epitomises this dialogue between heritage architecture and contemporary refinement.

Throughout the property, Green & Mingarelli Design have created interiors that respect the building's historic character while introducing a sophisticated residential atmosphere. Bespoke furnishings by Lalique Maison sit alongside carefully restored architectural features, creating spaces that feel timeless rather than theatrical.

Lalique Crystal as Architecture

At Villa Florhof, crystal is not merely decorative. It becomes part of the architecture itself. Created exclusively for the project, the Lalique Interior Design Studio has designed more than a dozen bespoke crystal and architectural glass installations that weave a visual narrative throughout the hotel. Inspired by René Lalique’s iconic creations, the butterfly and mulberry leaf motifs subtly allude to Zurich’s historic silk production and recur throughout the entire house. They appear in illuminated crystal panels, sculptural lighting and architectural screens, while handcrafted details accompany guests from arrival through every space of the property.

Among the highlights are the spectacular staircase installation of illuminated crystal butterflies, the dramatic ceiling of the future Signature Restaurant featuring more than one hundred illuminated Papillon crystal butterflies, and a curated presentation of Damien Hirst's butterfly artworks created in collaboration with Lalique.

A New Culinary Destination for Zurich

From opening day, Villa Florhof welcomes both hotel guests and local residents to its Bar & Brasserie, an all-day dining destination opening onto a tranquil garden terrace that is set to become one of Zurich's most desirable settings for lunch, aperitifs and relaxed dining. Under the direction of Head Chef John Schiffmann, the cuisine celebrates exceptional ingredients with an approachable yet refined philosophy.

The property's gastronomic offering will reach a new level later in autumn 2026 with the opening of the Signature Restaurant, located within the villa's elegant first-floor salons overlooking the surrounding historic neighbourhood.

Completing the experience are a beautifully restored historic vaulted wine cellar for private tastings and events, alongside the exclusive Salon Davidoff, an intimate cigar lounge dedicated to collectors and connoisseurs.

In the Heart of Zurich

Situated just moments from the Grossmünster, Kunsthaus Zürich and Bahnhofstrasse, Villa Florhof occupies one of the city's most desirable addresses while remaining quietly tucked away from its bustle. Within walking distance of Zurich Hauptbahnhof and easily accessible from Zurich Airport, it offers an exceptional gateway for discerning international travellers as well as a sophisticated new destination for the local community.
