LALIQUE UNVEILS MAISON D’ARTISTE, AN IMMERSIVE NEW YORK CITY FLAGSHIP AND JOURNEY THROUGH THE WORLD OF LALIQUE

Opening on March 19, 2025

NEW YORK, NY – 19th March 2025 Lalique, the iconic crystal house internationally revered as the epitome of French luxury, proudly announces the opening of its immersive retail and lifestyle flagship in the historic Chopard Mansion on New York City's Upper East Side. The five-story townhouse will serve as a global destination where clients, interior designers, and architects can delve into the myriad World of Lalique.

Named “Maison d’Artiste,” the property ushers in a new era of retail for the luxury brand. Offering a residential setting inspired by the homes of collectors, art lovers and artists alike, it will allow clients to experience unparalleled artistry while feeling welcomed in a comfortable setting.

An Enchanting Journey Through the World of Lalique

Paying homage to the rich heritage of the property and drawing a through-line between its history and that of Lalique, creative direction of the space was led by Marc Larminaux, Artistic and Creative Director of Lalique, alongside Christos Prevezanos, Founder and Principal of the award-winning Studio Preveza.

An Artistic Vision Realized

"With the launch of this new flagship, we are crafting more than a retail space — we are creating a unique journey into the heart of Lalique," comments Silvio Denz, Executive Chairman of Lalique Group. “We are thrilled to offer both our valued clients and a new generation of collectors an inspiring experience that celebrates Lalique‘s lifestyle and beauty."

Marc Larminaux, Artistic and Creative Director of Lalique adds, "The Maison d’Artiste was inspired by the interiors of art lovers, artists and collectors who invite visitors to experience art and craftmanship in an inspiring ‘home’ setting. Like an artistic hub, this welcoming venue fosters collaboration and connection, serving as a place for celebrating artistry and sharing creative inspiration.”

Step into the Maison d’Artiste and embark on an extraordinary journey through exquisitely curated spaces, like the Veranda d’Essences, Salon d’Exploration, and Bar & Lounge, which evoke the intimacy of a refined private residence. Each space reflects a unique pillar of Lalique's art of living while paying homage to the rich artistic and cultural heritage of New York City.

  • Salon d’Exploration: Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a fluid space showcasing Lalique's latest collections, offering a first glimpse into the brand's newest creations.
  • Iconic Collections: Venturing further into the space, visitors will discover a breathtaking atrium dedicated to Lalique’s core artistry and captivating crystal creations. Here, new masterpieces mingle with iconic, timeless pieces, each telling a story of craftsmanship and artistic excellence, many of which are influenced by Lalique’s Artistic and Creative Director Marc Larminaux's visionary approach.
  • Jewellery Salon: Ascend to the second floor to find the Jewellery Salon, an intimate space honoring René Lalique’s legacy as a master jeweller. The salon showcases delicate crystal jewellery collections, in which each piece is a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary design. To mark the opening of the Maison d'Artiste in the heart of New York City, Lalique has created the "Manhattan" necklace, a perfect interpretation of an original drawing by René Lalique. This unique white gold piece, entirely paved with diamonds, illustrates the famous New York skyline.
  • Veranda d’Essences: Facing the bright windows on the second floor, the Veranda d’Essences invites guests to an olfactory journey. Amidst a setting inspired by nature's serenity is an immersive discovery of Lalique's expertly crafted perfumes and home fragrances. From the latest crystal limited-edition perfumes to enchanting candles, each fragrance is an experience of the senses, capturing the essence of Lalique's rich perfume heritage.
  • Lalique Art Gallery: The third floor houses the largest Lalique Art Gallery to date. This space celebrates unique concepts and collaborations with globally renowned artists and designers such as James Turrell, Damien Hirst, and Zaha Hadid. This encounter of art and crystal gives rise to exceptional, limited-edition works of art that visitors will have the pleasure of discovering.
  • Bar & Lounge: On the fourth floor, adorned with sumptuous decor inspired by the Orient Express, is the chic and refined Bar & Lounge that offers an oasis of sophistication. It features a special presentation of Vignobles Silvio Denz — the private vineyards owned by Lalique Group’s Executive Chairman, Silvio Denz. Guests can indulge in an exceptional cocktail program, experiencing the brand's co-branded spirits in an ambiance that epitomizes the Lalique lifestyle.
  • Lalique Interior Design Studio (LIDS): Also on the fourth floor is the Lalique Interior Design Studio, a testament to the brand's extensive custom capabilities of crafting bespoke creations in architectural contexts. Here, crystal installations come to life.  The studio offers the possibility to discover crystal components and fixtures as they are in the studio’s Parisian location. As the first Lalique Interior Design Studio outside of Paris, it is a place for designers, architects, and contractors to come for inspiration and to build their own projects with the Lalique approach and savoir-faire.
  • Staircase: The property’s staircase will also feature a hand painted mural by New York City native Chris “DAZE” Ellis, a pioneer of the early street art movement of the 1970s. The mural incorporates iconic motifs from the three themes that continuously inspire Lalique’s creations: femme, flora and fauna. The artist has reinterpreted feminine figures, anemone flowers, butterflies, black birds and raisins, among others, through his widely recognized New York City street art style.

A showroom for Lalique’s interior design expertise

The Maison d’Artiste was an opportunity for the LIDS to deploy all its “creative know-how” in a single destination. The massive interior of the townhouse made it possible to create artistic, architectural works of masterful dimensions with combinations of renewed patterns and exceptional materials. Everywhere, in all spaces, the visitors will enjoy architectural bespoke masterpieces that are completely integrated into the concept. Among the creations, an impressive light wall of crystal composed of 36 Lauriers panels, a whirl of 62 light crystal Swallows on the ceiling, and a spectacular dome of 177 illuminated crystal Anemones are showcased. To achieve this, the LIDS and the Lalique factory in Alsace, France pushed the envelope to create never-before-seen interior installations. Through the Maison d’Artiste, Lalique confirms its true expertise in today’s interior design world.

A Historic Setting Meets Modern Luxury

The property at 21 E. 63rd Street, nestled between Fifth and Madison Avenues, boasts a rich history intertwined with early-Manhattan high society and jewellery-making, including the Bloomingdale family and Jean Schlumberger. Constructed around 1884 and reimagined in 1900, its Beaux-Arts design features an intricately carved limestone façade and elegant black metal accents. This timeless elegance provides the perfect backdrop for Lalique's fusion of heritage and modernity.

Lalique's Enduring Legacy in New York City

Lalique's relationship with New York City is one of enduring passion and creativity. From the iconic Fifth Avenue Coty Building adorned with Lalique's glass panels to contemporary installations in Restaurant DANIEL and Central Park Tower — the tallest residential building in the world — Lalique continues to leave its indelible mark on the city's skyline.

A glamorous beginning

Last Thursday, the new townhouse was inaugurated with a grand celebration. Among the 250 distinguished guests was rapper 50 Cent, who joined the festivities in an evening filled with joy and glamour. A video capturing the highlights of the night can be viewed on Instagram (here).
